Today our chef prepared a delicious meal for the residents, some had salmon with shrimp, others had the chicken with a side of asparagus and wild rice, and a delicious slice of chocolate cake for dessert. Nothing but the best for Ormond Manor residents, A Memory Care Community. (BIG SMILE)
Chef Ty, our Director of Dining will be with Ormond Manor for a year this month – congratulations, Chef Ty! She has made a name for herself coming in as a cook and within weeks promoted to Dining Director. She is so deserving of this title. Vicki Smith the Executive Director knew coming in over a year ago we could set new standards of excellence for this community and Ormond Manor has had an exciting year under her leadership. First on the list, good quality food for our residents, in a clean and sterile kitchen. What our residents deserve.
Ty served wild rice, the benefits of wild rice, it is grain free, high in antioxidants, reduces inflammation, and facilitate digestion. It also aids in strengthening the immune system, boost energy and is heart healthy.
Next up is asparagus, it is a good source of antioxidants, helps lower blood pressure, and it offers many nutrients with fewer calories.
The benefits of salmon are many - it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, a great source of protein, high in B vitamins and is a good source of potassium. It may even reduce the risk of heart disease and protect brain health.
Shrimp also is rich in key nutrients. What's more, shrimp contain antioxidants like astaxanthin, which reduces inflammation and oxidative damage.
Grilled Chicken is rich in protein, can help with weight management and reduce the risk of heart disease. Chicken contains the amino acid tryptophan, which has been linked to higher levels of serotonin (the “feel good” hormone) in our brains.
Chef Ty did not stop there, she created a lemon Garlic sauce for the Salmon and Chicken and buttered the shrimp. This lunch was amazing, I can say by first-hand experience - it was a healthy and delicious lunch. However, this article is not about me, it is about our residents who get to enjoy meals like this every day. At Ormond manor we offer three balanced meals a day and healthy snacks in between. Mealtime is important and is what keeps our residents going. Chef Ty is the Real Deal, and our residents love the food and her!
Thank you for taking the time to read about our featured meal of the week and who knows, maybe next week we will be back with other community highlights from me, Andrea Garden, your Marketing Director for Ormond Manor. We look forward to hearing from you to discuss how your loved one can be a part of something so great. Until then, be safe!
